i'm sorry sugar :)

I know, I know. I'm bad. Life has been crazy lately though. Things got really stressful. Then I kinda went crazy and got a social life all the sudden. I'm remembering what it's like to be able to do whatever I want. It's a hell of a lot of fun. I've gotten home after 4am three nights this week. My body is very, very upset with me. I'm so danged tired. But I can't stop smiling. I think I might be truly happy for the first time in a long time. Who knows if it will last, but I'm going to revel in it while it does.

I actually ended up signing the papers today. You know, it was pretty ok. I have to mail them off tomorrow. I think it's gonna be all right. I was afraid there for awhile. I need to slow down though. Haha. The stress combined with the late nights is kicking my butt.

I really need to get back on track. Like actually working during the day...I had a custom order today though. I'm really, really excited about it. It's going to be my biggest project yet :)

For now, I'm just going to do my Spoonful and get some sleep. That way I don't tile my work table tomorrow.

It comes from Letter Perfect Designs. I've been having a thing with pillows lately. I need to get my own place because I'm totally having decorating withdrawals. These pillows are the cutest things ever!

How darling are those! I'm loving the buttons. Jersey would probably chew the buttons off and then I would have to wring her little furry neck. Maybe I'll just get like 12 back-ups :)

I'm getting delirious. Oh! I went to CVS today and had only minor issues. It was an effing miracle. I called this morning to check on them and they said that they had refilled them and I hadn't picked them up so they put them back into stock. Funny story. This time, I didn't get a phone call. Before I get calls and they act like they've never heard of prescription meds, and now I'm not getting calls. But I planned ahead for their stupidity. I call this morning and they were all ready when I got there this afternoon. I was incredibly nervous. Now would not be a good time for something like that to happen to me. I get grumpy when I'm tired.

Anyway, everyone have the sweetest of dreams.

i'm horrible

This will be the second night in a row I haven't done a Spoonful. I can explain...yesterday was awesome. I went see the Astro's play and then out afterwards for drinks and stuff. I didn't get home till 5 this morning. Haha. I'm too, too old to do that. My body hates me for it. It was tons of fun though. I needed that.

So today I woke up wanting to just go back to sleep all day. If only. Then I had the day from effing hell. On top of being exhausted, my car wouldn't start and you-know-who called and messed with my head a little. Oh so fun.

So I'm just way tired and mentally done. I'm going to go to bed pronto and watching TV. I'm in a slump. I'm starting to feel like I want to revert back to the lay-in-bed-and-cry-all-day days. It's sucking me in. I'm just tired I guess. Rough week. I have to sign the divorce papers tomorrow. So it'll prolly be another crappy day. I'll be back at some point. Post pity party though. No one wants to hear that shit.

Sweet dreams!

candied trees

You know what the most important part of tiling is? Besides the tile, I mean. It's the grout. It pulls the piece together and gives it a finished, cohesive look. Without grout, it looks like you just glued a bunch of tile on something.

You know my my least favorite part of tiling is? Grouting. It's such a job! Put it on. Squish it into every crack. Smooth it out and make sure there are no gaps. Let it dry just long enough before you get out a sponge and scrub the crap out of it. Scrub until your arm wants to fall off. Then scrub some more. Then wipe the edges of the tiles to make sure you have even, straight grout lines. Repeat as necessary.

I grouted all day today. My right arm is shaking. I'm exhausted. I was wearing a tank top today and I looked in the mirror and my right arm is actually visibly bigger than my left. It's actually a nice arm. All tone and defined. My armpit roll has even disappeared. My left arm looks the same as it always did. *sigh* I'm going to have to start lifting weights with just my left arm. Sadness.

I've tried to grout and scrub with my left hand, but I'm really bad at it. I'm far from ambidextrous. I'd be curious to know how many calories I burn when I'm grouting. I did 6 things today. It took me 7 hours. I have to grout them all a second time tomorrow. Yay. Something to look forward to.

Today's Spoonful of Sugar comes from By Apryl. She makes really cool wire things. My favorites are the trees! They're really cool. It kinda reminds me of something that my gma used to have. A throwback :)
This isn't my birthstone. Mine is garnet, but I liked these so much better. They were more summery too. I also like the candle rings. Check out all her stuff!

I have to ice my arm now. Gotta be primed for "Grouting: Round Two" tomorrow.

overworked and underpaid and loving it

I'm so tired. I work all the time! Like literally from the time I get up until the time I go to sleep. I take breaks to eat (when I remember to...) and two walks for my dog (which she never lets me forget). I work on weekends, until midnight. It's exhausting. I have a very, very deep appreciation for moms who run their businesses and their households. Wow! Props to you. It takes an inordinate amount of strength and commitment to do that.

I'm working more than I ever did when I had a very demanding full-time job in property management. I was always showing houses, moving people in, doing quality control walks with construction supers in new homes, and a whole bunch of other things that I get tired just thinking about. Most days I had move-in appointments (paperwork, walk-thru's, etc.) every hour on the hour. Hustle, hustle, hustle.

I had to make appointments with myself to do my paperwork and QC walk new homes. We got about 10 new homes delivered a week. QC walking involved putting your hands on everything in the house. You open all the cabinets, check the seams of the carpet, make sure the floor doesn't squeak, make sure the a/c unit is sealed, open and shut windows, and a million other things. All with about 18 guys following you around asking questions and ready to fix whatever you want. The power was very nice :)

Man, I loved that job. I loved working with people. Giving them something new and beautiful. Something I had scoured, perfected, and sometimes actually patched or painted myself. All in high heels, thank you very much. I miss people though. I miss meeting them, talking to them, and just being in their company. I miss working with them from the beginning of a home until the day they moved in. Maybe that's why I love creating so much. It keeps me busy, occupied. I get to get my hands dirty and know that it will make a difference to someone at some point.

It's so important to find something that will fulfill you. If your job doesn't, find it somewhere else. Do something that makes you truly happy. Whether it be creating a tile empire or baking cookies for your kiddos.  Everyone loses themselves at some point. It's just one of those things. Don't let it go on so long that you can't find yourself again.

I made my first sale yesterday. What a rush! It's addicting. I want that again and again and again! So now I'm working even harder. It's like crack. You need more and more every time to get the high. God help me because there's already not enough hours in the day.

I'm rubbing off on my mom. She's having my dad take down their full length bathroom mirror (HUGE!) so I can do a tile frame around the edge. It'll be my biggest undertaking yet, and I'm really pumped. It'll be such an incredible accomplishment.

I'm not really excited about this post. It's kinda eh. It sounds as tired as I am. Hahaha. I want to say I'm getting off the computer and going to bed, but I now have to get my Kaboodle fix. It's my new drug of choice. Thanks a whole, whole lot Keirsten.

Give me something to write about folks! Leave comments or shoot me an email. Ask questions, tell me how crappy I am so I can argue with you, something! Get me all worked up. I do the best when I'm all worked up :)
